Yes. The first female ordinand in The Way was Mary Magadhalene, she was a Teacher. The first debate about ordination of women in the Church is recorded in the cryptic notes Mystical Sayings of Yesu, where the Apostles question the validity of the Magadhalene’s ordination and the Saviour defends it.
Mary Magadhalene was also the first Evangelist of the church. As evangelist (from the Greek evangelion, meaning ‘good news’) she was the first person to witness the empty tomb of Yesu that ran to the Apostles saying, “I’ve got good news, the Saviour is risen...”
Women played a very important role in The Way of Yesu right from the start—and the Church can never go without the balance obtained by bringing together the Yin and Yang in all matters.
