We subscribe to a strict privacy
policy. All personal information is kept in confidence. Once you
submit the application a page will be returned to you, containing the
contact information we will use.
We will NOT publish your information
to the database before checking with you to verify the data and its
suitability for public records.
The database should be available by end May
2002.
Because of Church of the East's past rules of
affiliation many groups, communities, organizations and centers around
the world were not officially recorded. There are literally
hundreds of groups in northern America, Europe, SE Asia and Africa who
forward the Yoga of Jesus and its related eastern spirituality, in
line with Church of the East's mission, that are not recorded on the
central database. This poses problems with regards those group's
legitimacy and credibility, especially in the West, and makes it
almost impossible for us to facilitate responsible licensing.
As of June 2002 only registered organizations
will legally be entitled to use Church of the East logos and
materials. This will not only serve the public to know when a
Church of the East group is legitimate but also enable much improved
National Board representation of the various geographical areas served
by communities.
The rules for future incorporation,
ordination and licensing is in the process of change. We expect
those changes to be effective as of June 2002. We will not
interfere with the past and current (pre June 2002) incorporation and
ordination status of current groups. We realize that the new
rules may cause discomfort for those presently studying for ordination
in their communities but this change has been long awaited by most
members.
Eventually the database will be searchable
online and serve as a resource for members all over the world.
Plans are underway to also provide each community with optional web
space and email on one of our web servers (ie. ???@churchoftheeast.com)
Any independent (with its own management
board) group, or intended group; be it a church congregation, retreat,
social group, school or ashram holding to Church of the East
principles qualify for registration and listing on the international
database. If you serve on a larger Board (e.g. Church of the
East South Africa, and also lead your local group, e.g. Springfield
Yoga Community, then you should register the local community because
it runs independent from the national Board.
