Church of the East in Canada formalised itself as a self-governing body during 2003.

Some of the highlights of the past year were:

  • We finished work on some of the courses and training material that had to be adapted to the 1st world setting in Canada and USA.  The next phase, funds allowing, will be to publish it and make available as booklets.  In the mean time we are working on getting the information to you online.
  • Final Phase Seminary Training and Ordination of South African minister Rev. Priyah+ was made possible by the South Western Ontario group.  Rev. Priyah was ordained during Sept in Wallaceburg after his 8-week crash course.  The course was fully packed over 14 hours per day and 6 days per week but before he left Rev. Priyah could fit in a quick visit to The Pinery Nature Reserve and Niagara Falls--we simply could not allow him to depart from here thinking all of Canada is like the inside of the training centre.

Some things to look forward to in 2004.

  • Hatha Yoga Philosophy course online by February.
  • Yoga of Jesus Philosophy course online by April.
  • Seminary training and preparation for ordination as Youth Minister of South African candidate Nomzamo Gaqelo.  Nomzamo will join the Seminary program in between February and July of this year. She presently works at St. Magadhalene Church in Hillbrow in Johannesburg -- the oldest (active) Church of the East community in South Africa.  Nomzamo will be the first Youth Minister to be ordained in South Africa.  Sponsorship for her training in Canada came from Ohio district, Amsterdam (Netherlands) and Ontario district.  Nomzamo was granted a student loan for the balance of the costs for her trip--a cost she says, "she carries with a smile".
  •  We hope to get help with the web site when a volunteer from South Africa arrives later this year.

The calendar for classes in Initiation, baptism and ordination to junior office will be posted as soon as we receive the schedule in February.

Devotional services are scheduled to start in Wallaceburg as of the 1st week in April, and in London as of the 1st week in May.

If you are interested to assist in organising Provincial and/or local communities--the time is now! Your help is much needed and will be highly appreciated.  Please offer your services via the communications in the members-only website.
