Church of the East in South Africa is been very active with social welfare programmes for girl children on the street of the country's inner-cities.  We started and have been involved with programmes of this nature in Southern Africa since 1990 to help retrieve these children from the streets of prostitution, homelessness and drug addiction.

One community in particular, St. Magadhalene Church in Johannesburg, serves girl children from that area.  St. Magadhalene in Johannesburg is perhaps the only congregation in the world consisting mainly of children retrieved from a life in prostitution.
